Representing the south district

Dupriest appointed as new commissioner

September 15, 2021

The Blue Valley School District Board of Education recently appointed Darren Dupriest to the Blue Valley Recreation Commission Board. Dupriest’s four-year term begins with the September meeting as he represents the south district.

After a stint with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Dupriest created an employment screening division for a national investigative and security consulting firm. In 2004, he founded Validity Screening Solutions, an information technology company specializing in employment, volunteer screening and drug testing.

Dupriest understands the impact volunteers have in the community and his vast experience will benefit Blue Valley Rec. He was a board member on the Blue Valley Educational Foundation, served as the Board Director of the Museum at Prairiefire, and currently serves as vice president of the University of Miami Alumni Association Board of Directors. He is also a founding member of the Professional Background Screening Association.

“My personal mission is to provide youth the resources they need to maximize their individual potential,” wrote Dupriest in his application. “Sports and recreational activities can play a significant part of that process. From my experience as a parent, Blue Valley Rec has been a valued resource.”

He is active in the Blue Valley community and his commitment to enhanced lifestyles was a major reason he applied for the open position.

“Darren’s passion for volunteering and his love for the community fits well with Blue Valley Rec’s vision,” said Commission chair Lynn Spraetz. “The Commission is looking forward to the impact Darren will have on the board and our community.”

Volunteer commissioners have a passion for enriching the lives of residents through recreational activities and sports. The seven-member Board serves as a policy-setting board for the organization and meets monthly. Each commissioner serves on a committee comprised of staff and citizen members from the community. Dupriest will serve on the Community Relations, Facilities, and Programming Committee and as a liaison to the Softball Advisory Council.
